How to Get Maximum ROI from Your CRM

Spencer Dusebout, founder and CEO of Aidium (formerly Daily AI + Whiteboard CRM) · Tue, 02 May 2023

Geoff interviews Spencer Dusebout about how mortgage professionals can get maximum ROI from their CRM, using Aidium as the case study. The conversation covers what most CRMs get wrong, what features actually save time and generate money, and how to evaluate whether your current platform is working. Best for LOs who have a CRM but aren't sure it's doing anything for their business.

The best CRM is not the one you use — it's the one that automates your business so you don't have to manually do the follow-up yourself.

The playbook

  1. 1. Integrate your email (Outlook or Gmail) so sent messages appear in your sent folder and replies pull back into the CRM.
  2. 2. Claim a local-area-code texting number in one click during onboarding.
  3. 3. Connect your LOS (Encompass, LendingPad, etc.) so loan milestone data flows in automatically.
  4. 4. Load out-of-the-box 'playbooks' (holiday nurture, in-process updates, lead conversion sequences) with one click — no build time.
  5. 5. Use the automation builder to create if/then workflows triggered by loan milestones (e.g., conditional approval → text from LO to both agents + email from processor to borrower with conditions list).
  6. 6. Upload referral partner list via LOS integration or CSV; use built-in design center (Canva-style) to create co-branded content and post to social or email in one click.
  7. 7. Connect point-of-sale (Floify, SimpleNexus, etc.) to trigger re-engagement automation when a borrower stops mid-application.

Worth quoting

“The best CRM is the one that's automating your business for you — otherwise, what's the point of even really using it?”
“If you're only converting 25-30% of your leads, maybe start by asking how can we get that to 50% — you don't have to spend more money.”

Best for

LOs who are paying for a CRM but couldn't name one specific thing it did for their business last month.
