Kyle Draper — social media and content coach for mortgage and real estate professionals · Thu, 29 Apr 2021
Social MediaVideo & YouTubePersonal BrandingConsumer Direct

Kyle Draper joins a private Mortgage Marketing Pro coaching session to answer LO questions about content creation: what to post, how to find your voice, and how to stay consistent. This episode is for LOs who know they should be creating content but keep stalling or posting generic rate/product updates that nobody engages with.

Your brand must be bigger than 'I do mortgages' — build it around a genuine passion and people will find you before they need a loan.

The playbook

  1. Step 1: Identify your genuine personal passion that overlaps with your target client's lifestyle (e.g., real estate investing for affluent clients, bourbon for stressed professionals).
  2. Step 2: Build your content identity around that passion first, with your LO role woven in through passive branding — not leading with it.
  3. Step 3: Pick one platform where your specific client demographic actually lives and commit to it exclusively for 90 days.
  4. Step 4: Record one video. Repurpose it into a blog post, a still image quote card, an IGTV clip, a YouTube upload, and 4 x 30-second short clips. One shoot = 8 pieces of content.
  5. Step 5: Outsource the posting, hashtagging, and scheduling to a social media VA so you only have to create — not distribute.
  6. Step 6: Review your content bank weekly against one filter: does this bring value (education, humor, entertainment, or inspiration) to the viewer? If not, cut it.

Worth quoting

“You can't change what you don't start. If you want to be better at Instagram, go over there and suck at it first.”
“When you are the opposite of self-serving, you stick out like a sore thumb in the best way.”

Best for

LOs who are posting sporadically or only about rates and products and getting zero engagement — especially those who have a personality or hobby they've never thought to use as content fuel.
